"Dixie" my Baby Erebennus Feeding Shots

jcampbell Aug 19, 2005 03:36 PM

A few shots of Dixie eating... she ate two pinks off of the tongs for the first time yesterday...
Thought you guys might enjoy these pics of her doing her favorite thing.

Take care,
Justin

The dedication of its members to both take great care of their snakes, share information, help each other out, NOT hybridize our snakes (*shudders and vomits*) and post nice pics.
Consistantly. . . . .

Thanks for posting these pics Justin.

*Cheers*

Fredrick Albury

PS
My opinion.

Nice!!! I love the action photos!

You might want to invest in longer tongs down the road!

minicopilot Aug 20, 2005 01:56 PM

WOW!!! Mike how long, how old, and how much does that one weigh??? Also What sex?
AWESOME!

Mike Meade Aug 20, 2005 07:40 PM

Bobby, I need to get some current measurements. As soon as I can my wife to get on the bathroom scale with him I'll get you a weight. I'd do it, but I think we'd max out the scale...He's 6' or so long...again I'll try to do better than that in the next day or so.

He's about 8 years old. I got him from Dean (he's the father of Justin's little girl above).

How do you like that boy's feeding response Mike?

You know he's the one that killed and ate my 5.5' cal king right?

I'll have to send you some pics I have of him eating...they are not real good...but interesting!

Mike Meade Aug 20, 2005 07:13 PM

His feeding response is as advertised. Put it this way, I try not to let him get hungry

But he's a sweetheart to handle otherwise. The best of both worlds.

Man, that sucks about your cal king, but I'm guessing she went quickly. I'll try to take some pics of him feeding as well. (I almost did today, but the adrenaline rush made me forget). I've got him on medium rats since I'm fresh out of 5 1/2' kingsnakes....

Thanks for everything Dean!

Mike

Well done! None of my erebennus, hatchlings or adults will eat unless left alone. They seem to know if you're nearby. Hatchlings will only eat in the dark.

Steve-
Actually, that hatchling I got from you last week ate right in front of me at like 5:00pm yesterday. She hasn't shed yet to boot. Surprised the heck out of me.

You don't like that snake or anything huh?
I can't tell you how cool it is to sell a baby to someone who appreciates it like you do!

jcampbell Aug 22, 2005 01:27 PM

I've kept snakes since I can remember begging mom at age 5 or so...
Since that time, I've had everything from Burmese Pythons to Corns to Kingsnakes to Dusky Pigmy Rattlers and Copperheads...

I can honestly say that I have NEVER been this excited over a snake before.

I can't thank you enough for opening a new door of discovery for me. I look forward to learning more about these animals from you and others in this forum.

Take care Dean.

Copperheads and Texas Indigos...I knew you had good taste!
That's a beautiful baby. She should grow up fast with a feeding response like that.
Enjoy your new addiction
