copu question

metalshrek May 17, 2003 08:20 PM

I've never bred alterna before and I'm probably just being anal. I stuck a pair from Black gap together today and within ten minutes they were going at it. However, I had earlier put a generic female in with the Black gap male.the generic female started tail- rattling and getting frantic as soon as the male barely touched her with his tongue at the vent. Is this expected? should she be afraid of him? Also i know some species bite the females before copulation. Is this true with GBs?
Thanks.

It sounds like the female just isn't receptive to breeding right now, give it time and reintroduce them. Occasionally males will bite to hold onto a female during copulation.
