Tokyo: The head of a reptile dealership and two others were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of falsely registering endangered crocodiles as having hatched in Japan in order for the animals to be eligible for sale in the country, the police said.
The arrested were Tsuyoshi Shirawa, 36, who runs reptile dealership Rep Japan based in the city of Shizuoka, Hiroaki Kimura, 44, a part-time employee of the dealership, and Toshio Imai, 59, head of Kusatsu Tropicana, a zoo in Kusatsu, Gunma Prefecture.
