Three toed box turtle pen???

Hi, i just got a three toed box turtle and was looking to build a pen. Someone told me pine and cedar are toxic. I knew cedar was but is pine???? What kind of wood is recommnded?? Does anyone have some bluebrints or instructions for a good pen to build??

any information is Greatly appreciated.

I don't have any blueprints for building but I can say that the thing about cedar & pine wood is that they both have the volatile oil called phenol in them. Phenol is toxic to small animals, it causes respiratory problems & liver damage.

I have a 4' fence made out of 2x4 's and a 4' picket fence around that. This is because I have dogs and wanted to create a few layers of defense.

My next pen will be those lawn timber bolted together to make a 18" wall and I will make it in sections to seperate turtles.. I have seen this before.

YOu can use bricks and stack them. I know people who does that and it works.
