***update on swollen belly***

ariel Jul 17, 2003 03:04 PM

hello well i am happy to report it is not crypto. but unfortunatly her fate does not look good. she has alot of fluid in her belly , which they took a sample of and it is blood. the xray didnt really show a impaction because there was too much fluid in her belly. they asked me if i wanted to put her to sleep but i just couldnt do that to her . they said that when she does die they will do that autopsy( i cant think of the real word for it oh well) ( and sorry if i miss spelled that) for free to find out what caused the bleeding. she has not fallen or been dropped, so i dont know . well thanks for everyones help and may she soon rest in peace!!!

I so sorry....I wonder what could have happened to make her internally bleed??? If she is suffering, you should put her down because it will be kinder. They just give her an injection and she'll slip off to sleep in your hands...a very comforting way to go.

IM very sorry to hear that. That is weird though for internal bleeding just to show up. The vet has no clue? If she is in pain, you know what is the best for her. By keeping her alive it will only make her live unhealthy/uncomfortable longer.
I wish you the best of luck whatever u choose to do. Update us when u can.

Im really sorry to hear that, I'm sure you gave her a great life. Could she have eaten some thing in her cage that could have cut her inside maybe? Other than that, I dont know why that would happen. Look at the bright side, atleast its not crypto, which could have infected all your geckos. If you dont put her down she will most likely die a painful death, so I'd recomend you put her to sleep. They just fall asleep, and dont wake up. Its totally painless and more humane. Again sorry to hear that, may she rest in peace,
Mac

crypto is very hard to detect through a fecal... almost a rarity.so their is a possibilty she might have crypto. the only way to know for sure is to have a necropsy done on her after she passes. but could also be something else maybe amebiasis or something that has attacked the intestinal area possible causing a bacterial infection and causing internal bleeding. please still keep her quarenteend and get the necropsy done.... i understand you had to put your cat down but if she is hurting or in pain it's not about you and your sadness its about the enduring and chronic pain she is in. dont let her linger
