Okay...my Uromastyx sleep all day and have done so for months...they are perfectly healthy when they finally do emerge and say hello...but, they lay under the newspaper all day...we used to use sand...but the Mali (one mali and one saharan) had so much in her tummy she stopped pooping. We finally fixed that problem though...does anyone have any suggestions? Please help!!!

How many layers of newspaper do you use and also, do you use an undertank heater? If not i suggest you do, but if you already are using one, it may be too many layers of newspaper won't let any heat through, so your uros may be trying to get the heat from it.
The heat lamp may also be too low, (too close to the surface) so they might be trying to hide from the heat.
I can't be positive but that's all i can suggest.

I guess the first thing you're going to hear, is are you temperature gradients correct? You say they are healthy, so does mean they are eating regularly? Are your lights on all the time, or are they turned off at night? How long are they on for?
