Enclosure size for Black Milksnakes

arctikpro Aug 21, 2005 08:21 PM

Hi, I recently bought a pair of Black milksnakes from the Daytona Reptile Expo and right now Im keeping them in two 20 gallon tanks. the male is almost 6 feet and the female is just over 5 feet. My question is will the 20 gallon tanks be suitable for their size or is it too small that it may bring problems now or in the future. By the way if anyone knows of any site with good info on Black Milksnake please let me know. Thanks again...

No more than you would be comfortable living in a suitcase. You need at least a 48" long tank at a bare minimum to allow the snakes to properely thermoregulate, let alone be able to remotely stretch out or lay somewhere that is not covered in their own waste. Try a google search for black milk snake care.
