eatinmachine Aug 21, 2005 09:10 PM

I am using rubbermaids and my dad is always telling me how are you going to heat it it is going to warp. I am like sure but how do all of you heat it without warping it? Do you just put a heat mat on it? I don't use a lot of heat mats though I use rope light they sell it for christmas and after christmas they sell it for like 3 dollars for 18 feet enough for a lot of cages when slose together. but how do you guys heat it? you get the hint I want to stop before I ramble more .

Who cares if they warp a little - they are thin plastic, and thin plastic will warp slightly where the heat is. As long as you keep the temp no higher than 85 deg, there is absolutely no problem using a heat pad under each box. The key is to use a thermostat or controller to maintain temps.

You can plug all your heat pads into one outlet strip and into one controller as long as the total wattage of all heat pads (add them up) is less than wattage rating of the controller.
