Breeding weight question

boastud Jul 17, 2003 03:34 PM

I just got a pair of 14 month old dragons from a breeder that i am not going to mention for now. He told me that the female would breed in about a month. This was 2 weeks ago. Well i got them today and the female is 15" and 162g?!! I emailed him and he said that she can breed. What is this guy smoking? He said that at the latest she will go in 2 months if i feed her. He says that he breeds females at that size sometimes. I wanted her so she could breed this year. Also i have 2 mercury vapor bulbs and a 3' lumachrome xxx bulb. My colors scream, they no where near the colors he said. I want my money back, do you think i can get it? What would you do?

it does sound like they could have been misrepresented by the breeder but did you ask thier weight? unfortunatly everyone has different opinions on when a dragon is ready, i would say way too small to breed. If you didnt ask their weight specifically and just went with his opinion or statement that they were ready to breed in my opinion you could base your disappointment on their color if it was a huge difference from picture to now. You may as well want to give them a couple days to settle in, stress can dramatically change a dragons color, shipping is definatly high stress.

hrmmm... well i dont think that is anywhere near big enough to breed, i would be upset also. Definatly get all the specs on a dragon before you buy, sorry you got duped, hopefully you will be able to sort out something with the breeder.
