Just caught a toad...

ruckus06 Aug 21, 2005 11:44 PM

I live in a condo complex off a busy road and due to recent water restrictions and space being at a premium, there is no grass and/or water in my complex. I'm not sure where it came from but it is adorable and I'd like to keep it as a pet. I already have a leopard gecko and a gopher snake, and was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for care sheets or give me some tips. Substrate, temperature, humidity, food, need to know all the usuals, and anything else you can think of. I'm afraid to put it back outside because we recently had our place sprayed for insectiside and anything it finds to eat is likely to be contaminated. How big of an enviornment does it need to live comfortably? I tried to get a pic but its jumping around quite a bit and it keeps coming out fuzzy. I think its a Western Toad, its light brown, kind of a desert camo color scheme.

Need a pic to ID. Set up is simple. 10gal tank, potting soil or eco-earth-type substrate, water dish for toad to sit in, a hide, and temps @ 86 to 65F. There should be a more detailed care sheet on www.amphibiancare.com. LOL!
