The FAQ says they grow 3-4 inches per year, I was just wondering if this seemed right to anyone who keeps them. Do they normally grow faster in captive situations? Thanks for any input.

My smooth front went from 14" last september to 21" when I measured her last in april. She eats every other day and has been kept at warm temps, 88 F water with a 100 F basking spot, which may explain the extra growth.
3-4" per year just seems like such a slow rate to me (compared to other reptiles I've kept). Your Smooth Front growth seems a little more realistic and easy to comprehend for me. I've just never worked with crocodilians before and wanted to know what others have experienced before I plunge in and expect mine to grow slow. Thanks for letting me know!

Howdy.
I have some growth rate charts at the Paleosuchus Page:
