Any recomendations on a "premie"

rainbowsrus Aug 22, 2005 11:33 AM

I have one of yesterdays second litter that has a large yolk still. I had one similar last year and it kept the yolk attached for several days and did fine. I didn't do anything special, just had it in a shoebox with paper towels. The yolk was drying out and I finally had to remove it as the snake was trying to move but it was sticking to everything. It did fine but was always the last for anything....last to shed (as I remember, approaching a month) last to feed.

This time I carefully relocated the entire egg sac to the shoebox with paper towel and have been spritzing it to keep it moist. Any thoughts on the "best" care for the lil guy/girl

Thanks

You can actually see it in the pic below...Upper left corner

Dave,
....Keeping the yolk moist and waiting for absorption like you are doing has worked well for me in the past. Premie's skin is especially tender so avoid handling and keep the humidity up for awhile after it finishes absorbing the yolk.
