Rainbow boa litter born 8-20-05

miloradovich Aug 22, 2005 04:26 PM

Hello, I am a long time lurker but this is my first time posting in this forum. I wanted to share a couple of pics of my first Rainbow litter. My girlfriend came home to find these on the Saturday evening while I was in St. Louis for a family reunion. Thankfully she is not squimish and seperated the fiesty young and cleaned the messy cage for me. Needless to say, I still rushed all the way home on the 14 hour drive. 14 healthy neonates in all no slugs or stills. This has been an exciting month for me as I have had four litters total in August, this one and 3 rosy boa litters so far. (Still waiting on three more rosy females.) Anyway have a great day and enjoy the pics. Thanks for looking.
Milo

Was this her first? I ask because last year both of my 3 year old new breeders gave me 10 babies with no slugs etc, they are still gravid. I normally am getting around 25 - 31 eggs produced in each litter, usually not all viables and typically 20ish viable babies. So far this year, three litters with total of 62 viable babies.

Dave,
You guessed right. This is her very first litter. I bought her as a young adult a few years ago and I belive that she is four years old now. I have been keeping BRBs for about 8 years but this was my first attempt at breeding Rainbows so I wasn't really sure what to expect from her but I am very pleased with the outcome. Good luck with your expecting females. If you are anything like me, you probably are impatiently checking the inclosures four or five times each day.

lets see:

1- When I wake up
2- before I leave for work
3- when I get home
4- before we leave for dinner (remodeling kitchen, eating out all the time....getting old)
5- when we return from dinner
before I go to bed

and those are just the ones I can easily define, LOL

BTW, another litter dropped last night, 28 babies. I'm runnign out of room for them all.

Milo,
....Yours is the best first time post I have seen on the forum. Nothing better than a PIC of healthy beautiful new babies. Congratulations.
Jeff

Jeff,
Thank you for the compliment. I was very pleased to come home to all of the health little guys and gals. This was my first attempt at breeding my Rainbow Boas and I couldn't have asked for more. (Sure beat my first attempt at breeding Redtails a few years ago where I got a lot of slugs and very few healthy babies.)

P.S. I suggest you hang on to that girlfriend....she must be alright!
