I FOUND HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO

iceyesnteeth Aug 22, 2005 04:37 PM

i just found my missing, and beleived to be murdered by my indian neighbors, manakawari chondro!!!!! im so happy!!!.just now, like evertime i pass the closet of death i spoke about,i opened the door and shined a flashlight in there and there he was!!!.sitting on the perch i installed to make him wanna stay.he looks like he is in kinda bad shape and he actually struck at me when i attempted to pick him up.he has never offered to bite as a yearling only once as an tiny baby,so this was kinda weird.maybe he was telling me he was through hell,or maybe the 3 weeks he was gone,he began to resort back to a wild animal.either way im happy to have him home.he already took a big drink but have not yet tried to feed him.should i let him acclimate first?he must have shed while gone because he has old shed all over him and has wrinkled skin.i know these things mean he is dehydrated.i have him in a small tupperware container with holes punched in the lid.its full of wet paper towels and im letting him soak in that to help hydrate him and remove old shed.so what do you guys think??am i doing everything right?i mentioned that he may have gotten into the basment that is really nasty with green stagnant water on the floor.i am worried had he gotten down there,he may have gotten a disease or sick.should i treat him for worms or anything just to be sure?? i shined a flashlight at the 6 inches of green water on the floor and there was all sorts of worms and mosquito larva swimming around so i dont know what else that basment may harbor.the only thing that makes me think he wasnt down there is the shed situaltion.had he been down there,i dont think he would have had such a bad shed.its humid as hell down there from the water and leaking pipes.i beleive he was in the walls for the past three weeks and just now found his way out.oh im so happy!!!i was sure he was a gonner.oh by the way,i did eventually talk to my neighbors son and he told me that they never found a snake in their apartment.i dont know what my maintance guy was talking about but im just glad i was able to find him.im going to post pictures in a couple days when i get the old shed off and hes looking more like himself.then youll see why i made such a fuss over losing him.

Congrats on finding your lost baby!! It sounds like you're doing everything right, but I would probably take him to a vet to make sure that the stress and dehydration hasn't caused any real problems, especially to his kidneys. Good luck and post pictures when he's back to normal.

Awesome!! I am so happy for you!!
Sounds like you're doing good, I would deff. take the next one or two fecals to be tested just in case and of course, an overall vet check up couldn't hurt either. First things first, seal up that hole in the closet!
I'm so glad you got him back...

my favorite chondr is this one,hes really pretty and tons of blue!!this is a 2 part question.first, hes around 16 months old, whats the youngest i can introduce him to a female?i have read 2 years but i cant imagine him being large enough in a few months.i sure hope so.how can you tell?weight?? does he go off feed, then i know?? what?he has never gone off feed like most males i hear do,so should i expect that at around 24 months?my second question is about his coloring.he just recently changed to his adult colors(about 3 months ago) he turned a really bright, light green with gray dorsal and gray diamonds all over.after about a month, the gray area got larger and turned a really bright robins egg blue.some of the brightest blue i have seen on a chondro.(his pics do not show it at all)and his belly turned bright yellow.my question is for anyone that has raised sorongs or mainland types like him.do they usually develop more blue as they get older or is this it? id be happy if he just stays like this but im wondering, since hes so young(16 months)and already showing tons of bright blue,is that a sign that hell have even more?im really excited about this guy.i think i was kinda getting used to him but during these 3 weeks, when i was looking for a replacement and checking out pics of available chondros,i got a good idea what was out there.then when this one returned i was alost knocked over at how amazing his blue is for such a youngster.i cant wait to breed him so now im gonna look for a high blue female.i already have a high yellow female but i dont think wanna use her.the reason is,wouldnt blue bred to yellow make green?? from what i have read, blue snakes geneticaly have little or no yellow pigment thats why they appear blue.and yellows, have little or no blue pigmen t,that makes them yellow. wouldnt this logic of mixing them and creating green make sense?

Sometimes I really wish posts weren't deleted, I would so much more enjoy being able to say>>>> "I TOLD YOU SO!!" I am so happy your guy showed back up. I know the ending isn't always so good, but..... as a person that has had way more than my fair share of escapes, I'm still luckily batting 100% full safe recovery!!

Congratulations!!!

Man thats good news!

I hate it myself when we judge other people and beleive them to be the ones that did us wrong. It has happened to me, too.

Congrats again
