Drys in Daytona... not much to choose from - more...

jcampbell Aug 22, 2005 06:17 PM

As far as Erebennus is concerned, not one was on display for sale that I know of. I did meet Chris Raden there for the first time and he showed me a 05 male that he had pre-arranged a deal for. It was a great looking animal. (It was a tough pill for me to swallow because that's exactly what I was looking to buy while in Daytona.)

He did however, have some real nice hatchling BT's and a couple of hatchling Uni's for sale... My friend bought a pair of the BT's and they are very nice indeed.

Strictly Reptiles had some drys but they all appeared to be WC imports... One large Yellow Tail that looked to me like an integrade. They also had some Sub-Adult BT's too.

I ended up leaving Daytona yesterday with a Lee Abbott 05 Male Okeetee Corn which is sure to be a beauty... and I also picked up 2.1 Prairie Kingsnakes (One female an Albino, the other Het./Albino, and a Albino Male). I've always liked Calligaster but never worked with them before, I'm sure I will enjoy it.

Take care everyone,
Justin

It was nice meeting you Justin. That male erebennus was the only snake I purchased at the show (although I did pick up some poison dart froglets for my wife.)

If it helps to ease your mind a bit, that other male erebennus that I told you might be available wasn't. It actually ended up being 2.4 instead of 3.3 so there were no extra males.
I'm trying to track down the lineage on the nice CB05 Texan I picked up. I was told that Glades Herp acquired a pair of adult Texas Indigos in a trade at Hamburg last fall. They were planning to sell them but ended up hanging on to them when they caught them copulating in their cage. If anyone knows who traded some Texans to Glades at Hamburg last year, drop me an email so I can try to track down the original breeder.

It was nice to see that there was so much interest in Drymarchon at the show. I sold out of all the CB05 BT babies I brought. (some were left at home because they were either still picky feeders or already spoken for).
I hope the ones your friend picked up do well for him. Tell him to keep in touch and send me some pics as they grow up.
Good luck in your erebennus quest!
Chris

"I'll shoot you an email with a pic when I get him set up fully."

Thanks Lloyd! I'd love to see the little guy in his new home. I think you're really going to enjoy your new Dry. Interestingly enough, it seems like most Drymarchon enthusiasts are also Pituophis fans (like yourself).
You did pretty well in Daytona. If I'd had more time to walk around and look I probably would have went home with a stack of new mouths to feed as well
Chris

This pic is from last year and she is in shed right now, but when she sheds I'll post more pics that show off her entire body...
Take care,
Justin

justin, to me that was a 'good' okeetee till i grew up an abbott or 2. i still double take when mine are out & about. the difference is in the am't of the black edging & abbott's are high black i'd guess you would say. i really like that myself. anyweay, i'll get some pics of my 03 male out here as soon as i can. he is just unreal...........
