question about misting systems

iceyesnteeth Aug 22, 2005 07:37 PM

now that i have my baby back im going to begin to obsess about hydrating my snakes.i was wondering if anyone knows of a cheap automated mister or a homebuilt set of plans.i have several wall outlet timers that i use on my lights,so i may just need the mister part.due to a new addition to my chondro collection,i really cant afford much.while on the topic,id like to share how i have been misting up untill now.beleive it or not,i use an airbrush!.its really amazing how the water is atomized and creates basically a fog in the tank that remains suspended in the air for quite some time.it has really worked quite well and creates a 100 percent humididty level for a little while after using it.great to use while shedding and when you want extra humidity.

Why don't you just stick with that? From what I've heard, misting systems are more trouble than not, clogging and not working at all. The only time I think it would help, is if you went on a longer vacation and had no one to mist your tank for you. I always figure it gives me a chance to check my chondro over and see how she's doing when I mist her in the mornings. If your current misting system worked before, why change it?

I have a good thermostat because I'd never keep my cage temps correct without it, but misting with a water bottle seems to work just fine. She's had a perfect shed already with me, and she's due to shed soon, so we'll see how she is. I'd just get a thermostat, and just use the airbrush like you have. I wish I had something that fine to use, but I can't even find the plant misters they used to have everywhere.
