has anyone who's had the opportunity to observe captive non-tame to captive tame chucks...

ever seemed to notice a big difference between their activities and/ or personalities? my chuckwalla philbert, and un-named, arent exactly hand-tame yet, they jump around when you open the cage, run, but once you get them they calm down and sit in your hand. but i was wandering if they would stop being active as they are if i were to take time to actually tame them down? also, does it affect their breeding potential to have them hand-tamed? i was hoping to mabe breed them in the future, since i have a male and female, and another thing, what size/ age do they start displaying breeding activities?

are hand tame. To me they are specimens, not pets so I don't mess with them much. They all breed. Some of the males are very aggressive and will try to attack my hands if I get too close to them and most of the females just run under a rock. Not being tame does not seem to effect their breeding. they all come out to roam the reptile room, and stay very active, The boys walk around all day and check things out, when I leave them out.
I have pots of pothoes plants sitting around the floor, and they unfortunity are eaten down to the nubs but they have fun and it's their room.

Theres no doubt in my mind that If I had a breedable female (my female is disabled)that my males would both behave very sexual even though tame.

I think they make awesome pets, they will walk up to me and be cute (pesty) while I'm down on the floor cleaning or whatever. I find it quite surprising how trusting and ORNERY they can act , Alot of personality.

They like to be scratched around the neck and will tilt their heads while you do it.

Anyway in answer to your question, I think they stay very active because they do not run and hide when they see you.

(When tame) they can feel comfortable to do what they want and you get to enjoy watching them or even interacting so to speak.

since ive had my chucks they have become used to people and cats strolling by their cage, yet still flighty to quick movements, and its great to see them interact. the little girl follows big old philbert around and she enjoys basking on him. awhile back i had a problem where philbert was eating all their rations and i didnt notice the girl loosing weight until it came off her tail some, but i seperated her, got her munching properly again and put em back, with increased portions. when i did have them seperated tho, the girl seemed more lethargic and upon reintroduction seemed to appriciate being back with the big guy. im leaning towards keeping them more wild, trying to breed them in the future, and mabe having tame babies, and an in-door chuck. another thing, after winter when i was trying to fatten them up quicker, they wouldnt touch bugs. whats some type of froot or something they might really enjoy that i could use to induce weight when needed? thanks.
