Need Help with Baby RETF's Please!!!!!

pavochavo Aug 22, 2005 11:28 PM

I bought three RETF tadpoles over a month ago. About a week and a half ago they finally turned into frogs. They were doing just great. Feeding on pinhead crickets and flightless fruit flies. They have the optimum temperature and are misted three times daily. My girlfriend noticed that one of them had turned red a couple days ago. I get home today and he had passed. The other two still looked good. I checked them this evening and the other two have now turned red. I am really concerned. I don't know what I have done wrong and I don't want them to go too. Can anyone help?????

I apologize but I am at work and cannot give a pic. It is definitely red all over where it should be green. They were green yesterday morning and they were completely red at night. I gave them a little extra night time heat thinking maybe they were cold. Tonight I am going to go home and clean the enclosure. It isn't that dirty but I'll try anything. I am also going to soak them in some spring water (aged and treated with Aquatize).

How often do you clean the enclosure?

Might be infection, if not often enough?
Do you clean your hands with vetinary disinfectant?

Do you have a local vet that can take a look at them?

I clean my enclosure twice a week.
50-60% of the waterfall water evaporates every day, and gets replaced. It gets a complete replacement, and wash down, twice a week with the cleanout.
I use amprotect vetinary disinfectant on all the glass, and on the waterfall.

I leave the moss and the trees alone though.
Their stool probably goes straight through the moss into the bark substrate, so it's not an issue.
