VET (reiko)

mkurgan Jul 17, 2003 04:36 PM

tomorrow i want to take one of my beardies to the vet for a fecal exam for possible parasites. she pooped today while i was at work and it got hard under the basking bulb. she will probably not poop again before i go, can i still use the hard poop. im going to wrap in in wet paper towel and put it in the fridge-will it be ok?

in all honesty if it was sitting under the lamp all day its probably not the best sample, but you could put it between a wet papertowel and if you dont get another one just take that one in, if its totally baked like no softness left i would wait till you can get a fresher one.

ya it was baked with no softness at all. i put it between wet towels and in the fridge. how soon does she need to see the vet if she has a parasitic infection? i mean can she die because of it? if i dont go tomrrow, i might not be able to make it until sunday.

by the way--she is eating fine, both greens and crickets

she will be just fine she wont die, if you cant get a sample till the start of next week that will be just fine, shes eating and doing well so there shouldnt be any urgency, i would wait for a fresh sample. With my girl there was blood in the stool so i know there is definatly something up and probably a heavy load of parasites so i need to get a sample in as soon as i can, im sure your dragon will be just fine.

you could try a bath tomorrow morning, this can help get them to go, then you just have to fish it out of the water or grab them up just when they are about to go....
