chameleon with open mouth

my chameleon is walking around with its mouth open. i mist its cage, i see it drink, and i feed it. proper temp and humidity too. what could be wrong?

either your chameleon is hot so it is just cooling itself off which is no problem. but if it seems to be mucusy he could be have upper respitory infenction but i don't think that that is the case.

i would say he is only thermo regulating (getting cooler) that is what they do.,

A cham with an upper respiratory infection (URI) will be lethargic, not eat, and sit with head tipped up. Also you may see heavy breathing and gulping over and over, puffing out the gular throat pouch, strings of mucous in the nostrils and mouth. If he's too hot his color will be light, and he will only gape for a few minutes at a time. When he cools off he will close his mouth and color will look more normal.
