i have kept black pines and found them great snakes....a hulking shiny black brute of a snake,a captive bred and healthy blk. pine is undeniably impressive, even to non-pituophis fan...the one i had was just a great eater, and super mellow, even when young....as for the bull, all the same is probably true, and then there is also the facct that you can introduce pigment abnormalities(aka 'designer morphs')-and i like some of these a lot-white sided,snow,amelanistic,etc,etc...one possible downside to this is that more morphs=more snakes for sale, which means the market can get flooded-too many sellers and breeders, not enough buyers....sort of like what i think is about to happen,if not already, with ball pythons/cal kings/corns....whereas the black pines, are still more or less 'morph-free'(have seen a very weird 'piebald' phase, though),thus retaining a sort of 'classic, natural appeal',or what have you-and any aberrancies are still yet to be uncovered in them, until, well, who knows.....one last thought-these are decidely more rare in the wild than the bullsnake..let me know if you want some contacts for very trusted pituophis breeders,no matter what you decide...peace
