Dean,
I too was quite amazed when Dan told me that. My line is usually good, for the most part with taking pinks. Many switch to unscented in the first 6 months. Dan had told me he switched from toad to redback salamander to earthworm, so maybe the transition was what did it. In working with as many easterns as I have, it would be VERY hard for me to believe that they would earthworms. Most babies start out with hunting by sight as they are very much visually oriented herps. The jumping of a toad seems to set them off! I doubt a worm crawling around would do anything for them. Also, worms are much more agile in soil and more apt to get away from an eastern than say a chunky fowlers or spadefoot toad.
