strange mood swings and some other brief questions

Charlie_A Aug 23, 2005 08:00 PM

My rhino freaks out when I try to pick him up in the cage so I end up having to grab him to take him out. After hes out he immediatly calms down. Hes like a different iguana. Sometimes he falls asleep on me! He really gets calm when I bathe him. He just sits in the warm water and when he wants to come out I just put my arm in the tub and he climbs up it. Is all this normal behaviour.

Also I had another question. I purchased him from Robert Ehrig when he was 18 months and looking at all the pictures on the forum my almost two year old (22 months) seems kinda small (22 inches STL). But everyone says Robert just has small hatchlings and they eventually catch up. Hes from very large parents (Spike and Jane) if that means anything. So he has the potential. He's grown about 4-5 since I got him and gained a lot of weight. Does he seem to be at a healthy size?

Cage-75 gallon aquairium (Im in the middle of building a large custom enclosure six feet by three but hopefully he will also be free roaming
Lighting-Capture the sun mercury vapor and a halogen for his basking spot and a zoomed coil lamp just for visual light. His basking temps are 105-110
Food-Lots of leafy greens. Collards, mustards, dandalion, escarole etc. Plus a lot of squash, peas, green beans carrots hibiscus and nastursium also a little friut a few times a week. I supplement with calcium daily and vitimins weekly

Sorry for the huge post
Charlie
