death in baby frogs

shytownbears Aug 23, 2005 10:50 PM

Hi, This is my first time posting. I have four baby milky cave frogs, and four red eyed tree frog babies. I cannot figure out why I have lost two already, one of each. I find them losing control of their back leg, and they have what looks to be a stomach full of water, and then they are gone. I just noticed a third acting the same way. I am desperate, please tell me what I am doing wrong. They are so small, and I thought I set it up perfectly. Thank you in advance, for any help at all. Mary

Please describe your setup in detail including all perameters monitored and diet. Are these wild-caught or captive bred? How old are they? How long have you had them?

If you just got them and they are quickly dying it is most likely related to your husbandry. Other factors like parasites and stress will complicate things as well.

Good luck, if in doubt, take them to the vet... I can't answer you any better than that without more information.

Ian
