a few observations about daytona....

first off it was a great show. Tons of great looking animals and great vendors. I picked up 2 more het pied females from bhb, a citrus ghost male and will be picking up 2 het females as soon as they hatch from gulf coast reptiles, they sold out before i could make it to their table, and a het albino female from them as well. The one thing I did notice is that it's probably good that I'm mostly sticking with the recessive traits. I saw alot more spiders, mojaves, and pinstripes than i was expecting to. I mean I saw almost as many spiders as i did albino's. Another thing, I've read and heard about the problem with spiders having "wobble" heads but have never seen it before. With that many spiders in one room I finally seen it on 3 seperate animals. All 3 were crosses with other morphs, it was very disturbing to watch to say the least and made up my mind that I will not be owning one of those beautiful animals as my main goal is to be producing animals that will be beneficial to the continued growth of the bp community. It's just my opinion that if you had 4 snakes in a cage at a pet store and one of them has a "wobble head" that it will turn off a potential bp owner, but that is my opinion and we know the saying about opinions. But anyway I'll post pic's of my new citrus ghost for all to see and a pic of an adult they had there so everyone can see why I'm thrilled with my future projects with them. Josh Hutto

caramels are far more prone to genetic defect than spiders--i mean alot more and they are simple reccessive. I think spiders are still a good investment--i just paid big bucks for an adult male!-Ben Siegel

I've seen at least 7 spiders with the "head shake"....I overheard rousis talking about it with someone at the ny metro show a few months back....It's out there....alot of em have that problem...just like kinks in the caramels...

I got the last two citrus ghost het females and a male c. ghost from gulf coast.. right after I saw the adult they had, it was very nice. Were you the one trying to get them at the same time as me?

joshhutto Aug 24, 2005 06:18 PM

yeah that was me. I had actually already told them I was going to buy them but didn't want to cost them the sell. I only live about 20 mins from them and will be picking up some as soon as they hatch. I did end up picking up a male citrus ghost to get me a year ahead to prove out some poss het's i'll create this year. Just to let you know, I've seen 4 of their adults and the one they had was the least impressive of them and it was a truly stunning animal. This is by far the most colorful of the ghost lines. I can't wait to cross it into some pastels and will be picking up a mojave next yr to add to my ghost projects. Good luck to you and your projects. This pic is my male het citrus breeding last year at 500 gm, the female didn't take so this year he should he's pushing 900 gm now. Josh Hutto
