Well all my babys reached their NEW and wonderful homes today :0)

I was so happy, everyone was wonderful and updated me on how they were, and sent pics of their new homes, always quite REWARDING when you know they are all safe, content, and IN GREAT HANDS.

SO I have DONE IT AGAIN, LOL I am supposed to get a few adults soon from a GOOD FRIEND who is in the process of moving. A real sockhead type guy, ROFL

AND I also am expecting a VERY cool pair of C. collaris a little
different than my aquaflames, and yellowheads.

The male is BRIGHT YELLOW with some brownish patterning on his back, he is actually pictured on another website, but is coming to live here NOW , along with a cute female.

So the babes leave, and the adults COME, hahahhahaa sounds about right hunh ? LMAO

The little girl arrived and was warmed up and eating crickets after an hour. She is so adorable, my heart just melted to see a baby again. I called my friend Ric, for whom she was intended and he came and got her before I could become too attached. I am hoping to get him involved in the forum so that we can see pictures as she grows

This baby was intended to be a girlfriend for Hermes, my one successful egg from last year. Sadly, about 10 days ago, Ric noticed he did not come out of his hide. Hermes was dead, still warmish and not a mark on him, just a couple weeks short of his first birthday. Ric has no idea what happened, the day before he had held Hermes for a couple of hours and had told me how animated Hermes was. He had just finished a nice shed and was as fat and healthy as ever. Hermes was my baby and was well loved by Ric, his wife and 2 daughters. Seeing their eyes light up when they saw that baby girl today was a wonderful thing. Now we need to find her a nice little guy to settle down with!

And then there is poor Cadence, the little girl caught as a hatchling and about the same age as Hermes. I made a horrible mistake, thinking her tail had cleared the sliding glass door of the cage. But it had not, and I caught the last two thirds of an inch in the door. Poor baby, you know that had to hurt. I cried for 2 hours over that. At first I thought it would heal crooked, like Saige's did from whatever injured her tail before she was captured. But every day more of it was becoming necrotic from the tip up, and at the injury it had turned into a 45 degree angle. It was threatening to heal into a "knob" at the end, on top of the threat of infection as it died below the angle at the injury. After a phone consultation with Eve it was decided the best thing to do was to amputate at the injury. That was difficult for me to do and involved more tears, but it is over and she is healing up nicely. She is still a very pretty girl and I hope she doesn't hate me!

That is the news from here. My other 3 are all doing fine. Thank you for the baby, Eve, and for all of your support. I really appreciate everyone here on the forum.

This is the last picture I ever took of Hermes.

Shes a sweet thing except to CRICKETS they FEAR her, hehehehe

I had already heard the news about Hermes, but again I'm real sorry. It's tough when ya lose them so young, and not even sure WHY ! You go nuts trying to figure out what happened. But sometimes even with all the proper care, things seem to go wrong.

And your girls tail will be fine now, much better than left alone.
I know from having Navajo's tail mangled by his female mate last year, I should have probably had most of it removed. It has healed, but with all the bites and mangled places it healed looking like a think club about 3 inches of it.

And he is gorgeous, very pretty, shame she disfigured his tail.

Anyway Val, glad everyone is fine, and so is Hermes, he's romping happily again too,

Thanks again, (yeah get your friend Ric on the forum, LOL )

Awww, I'm sure sorry to hear about Hermes. I lost my very first collared lizard the exact same way. He was huge and fat, and seemed vigorous and healthy right up until the day he died. I had a necropsy done. The vet said it looked like he was in kidney failure, but I never knew what caused it or even if that's what killed him, for that matter. I never lost another one that way, though.

I know what you mean about those babies melting your heart. I'm a little surprised that Ric got to take her home--he might not have been able to pry her from my fingers if she had come to my house first
