Venomous Vets

lewbaker Aug 24, 2005 12:28 AM

I was wondering what is the best way to go about searching for vets that deal with hot snakes. I live in SE PA, and i was wondering if anyone knew of any good vets that deal with hots in the area. Thanks in advance and god bless.

The Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians is a good place to start. www.arav.com. Look in the membership list. Unfortunately not all members are hot herp vets, nor do all members list out to the public. It's a start though. When calling around (call your local clinics as well) make sure to ask if they can refer you to someone that does hot's. (Many vets will not know what hot stands for, even if they are herp med. experienced.)

Is south east pennsylvainaa close to Georgia? Look up Dr. Hernandez-Divers at the Unniversity down there, he's awesome, and of course sees hots as well.
Isn't Scott Stahl in your area? Look him up as well

Good luck, and nice to see you planning ahead!

Ian
