Not at all. The people we bought this female from 4 years ago kept detailed records. She was only 4 feet at one year old and about 7 feet at her second year when we got her. We never fed her more than a decent sized meal every two weeks and over the following 4 years she put on only between two and two and a half feet per year. This is actually fairly average growth for a female burmese. As far as obesity is concerned, she is not this either. At this time of year, just prior to breeding her we do feed her a little more than usual in order to build up some extra fat for optimum egg development. If she were not slotted to be bred she would not be fed as much. After egg laying all these fat cells are used up and gone.
Sorry for taking so long to respond. After the hurricane hit our state we have been too busy to frequent any forums. We were fortunate that the brunt of the storm slipped past us slightly to the East and we had minimal damage. But we have many family members and dear friends that were not so lucky. We have been preoccupied with helping as much as is possible to get their lives back to normal. Feel free to email us as we check this daily on our phones.
