Suriname growth size

texasboa71 Aug 24, 2005 01:09 PM

Ok, i haven't been on here in awhile. I think the last time i was in here was over a year ago. Anyway, I bought a baby suriname back in 03. I never really got comfortable with her so I hardly ever held her. Also, I probably didn't feed her like I should have. So, my question is, since she is 2 years old and not more than 5 feet, if i strart feeding her more often will she still grow to a much larger size or will her size be limited? What can I expect? Thank you

You use the word "her" so I'll assume you have a female. Five foot sounds like a very good size for a 2 year old (if you had a male you might want to keep him even hungrier and smaller). Boas that are kept to a slower growth rate may or may not take longer to breed (it's debatable how much size and/or age contribute to maturity) but they are usually healthier and make better breeders in the long run. Feed her a meal that leaves a small but noticeable lump every 10 days or so and let her keep growing at the rate thats comfortable for her. With some luck you'll have a healthy pet for the next 20 years or more. Good luck.

Yours sounds like it's not underfed by any means.

Where did you get her if you don't mind me asking? And how much did it set you back?

I bought her from Rob Tudehope back in 03 for around $500 I believe.
