outside & showers

flammysnake Aug 24, 2005 02:22 PM

so about twice a week i like to take my chameleons outside. i take them and their entire cages and plop them in the sun and give them their shower. but they seem to hate it. my male runs frantically around the bottom of his cage and my female hides behind her pothos almost on the bottom. should they hate it this much? am i doing something wrong?

First, how old are they? Being set out and "exposed" in a new space is stressful, and if they are young, they may feel vulnerable to a predator. How much foliage is in their cages? It might help to drape a light colored sheet or towel over part of the cage to block drafts and give them an area where they are out of view from 2 sides. Also, when spraying them the water from a hose is probably cold. Spray the cage and foliage and NOT the chams directly, but let them find the droplets by themselves.

i was definately not spraying them directly, but i never thought about covering half the cage up. i'm like the absent minded professor without being a professor.....thanks for the advice
