Hey, about breeding, Thanks...

Hey, right now I'm trying to breed my brooksi's, and this is my first time. I was just wondering if there was some way of telling whether or not she is pregnant. I have heard things about the female laying on her side, but was wondering if there was anything else. It is kind of hard for me to tell if the female is on her side because she is still in the hidebox with the male.
I appreciate all of your responses, Jason, here are the pictures of when I think they were breeding, I could see them at it, but i think I scared them when i went to go get the camera.

Hey, I'd just like to know if anyone saw those pix, or if they just kept loading
Thanks, Jason

I couldn't see the pics here at the forum, apparently 'image station' doesn't allow images to be called from their servers. But I followed the links and saw them just fine.

Unfortunately it is very difficult to tell if they were breeding or not, as there are no good pictures of their tails. It certainly looks like they may have been trying though, but without actual visual proof of their tails locked together there is no way of knowing until the female either looks obviously gravid or pops you out some eggs.

I don't know much about Brooksi's, I have mainly Cal kings, but you mentioned that they are currently together in the hide box. Is it safe to keep brooksi's together all the time? I had one, a young male who at about 16" long happened to come close to a slightly smaller cal king youngster while being held in opposite hands by a friend during cage cleaning. He tried his damnedest to eat that snake, even though he had been fed just the day before, and was in no way hungry. He was a sweet guy too, not usually nasty at all. I keep my kingsnakes separate unless they are breeding, I have read about and heard about too many losses and accidents to do otherwise.

Good luck to you though, hope she's gravid for ya.
