The Longest/Largest Snake in Captivity

serplover Jul 17, 2003 06:19 PM

I'm posting this in several forums. What is the longest/largest snake currently in captivity? Is it in a zoo or zoo type facility or possibly under a private person's care? Pictures if possible, please.

That's the site for Serpent Safari. Baby is a VERY large (and overfed) burmese python who's over 27' long and the site says she weighs in at 403 lbs, but that could be exaggerated, i'm not sure. The guy who owns baby and runs serpent safari also owns a huge anaconda named cuddles (again, she looks like she was way overfed when I saw her). Cuddles is 18' and it states on his page 375 lbs, however nigel had a special on the discovery channel on anacondas, and they were at serpent safari and weighed cuddles, she weighed 296. Anyhoo, thought that might give you some insite. Recently, baby celebrated her 19th birthday I believe. It was in a reptile magazine a few months back. Right now to this day, she is the largest snake in captivity. If anyone else has information reguarding the largest captive snake, let me know, would love to see pictures.
