Im really having a hard time with interacting with my cuban roack iguana cuase of his wanting to go to the bath room all the time on me and every thing in my apt. He doest just go once or just some of them time he deficates every time and a few times if I let him out or pick him up for more then 5 minutes. I thought I might have understood why he was doing it but im lost now. Spme one sugested before that maybe he is marking his territory, im not sure but It;s really hurting my relkationship with this beutiful creature cu8ase I wana let him free roam and take him out and handle him more often then I do. I really need help cuase I dont think its fair for either of us (me and my male cuban) to not have a better relationship.

thank you

What time do you feed him? Because maybe if you feed him early he will go to the bathroom naturally, then you can pick him up after he has already defecated that day. (Just a Thought)

Just one of those things I am afraid. Both our pair do it all the time, we just getout the kitchen wipes and carpet shampoo.

No, because they would crap all over the place. Cyclura do the same thing. You cannot "potty train" a cyclura. Those who say they have are fooling themselves into thinking that habitual crapping in a certain spot is potty training. Cycluras are wild animals, who either need to be kept outside or in a large cage. Not only does thier crapping make your house stink to high heaven, but it is very unsanitary. You may not smell it any more, but I'm sure your friends smell that strange herbivorous lizard stench when they go in your homes. I have a dedicated iguana room detached from the house. I keep it clean, and I never think it stinks. My wife or friends go in thier, and they say it smells like the San Francisco Zoo.

I would have to disagree with you 0. I have owned lizzards my entire life from 6 foot water monitors to baby iguanas. The behavior im speaking of is alot differant then just crapping on the floor every once in awhile. My lizzard doesnt like to crap in his aquirium where all the other tegus monitors and iguanas ive had did. And I think most of us that do let our lizzards out clean it up and not let it sit there to become unsanitary. But thanks for your opion on the matter.

yeah but how many cyclura. not all lizards are the same as I am sure you know. If I remember right your nubila is young. you might be scaring the Sh*& out of him. He may be marking but probably a bit young for that. I bet if you give him time he will settle down to once or twice a day as he gets older. i dont think they can be reliable potty trained. please prove us wrong and then tell me what you did.
good luck
