Indicus pictures and setup

JPsShadow Aug 24, 2005 05:43 PM

Since so many have been asking about setups, substrate, etc. for indos lately thought I would share these pictures.

Not saying it is perfect by any means but it may give you an idea or a start. I have only added a few more branches, palm frawns, and more lattice since taking these.

Look close in this picture and you will see one of my indicus making use of one of the hiding spots.

Incase you missed it here is a close up, see the foot.

I use leaf litter in the bottom along with a water tub. There is also more palm frawns buried in the leaves.

Here is one of the girls enjoying some food. You can see she is sitting ontop of a rubbermaid tub. This is filled with leaf litter and sphagnum moss. Both females have used it to lay thier eggs.

Awsome pics. I love the foot barely sticking out from behind the log.

Nice setup! Its not often I see pics posted of indicus setups.

Have you ever tried dirt? If so....did the mangroves seem to prefer the leaf litter. I was thinking about using leaf litter also, but currently I am just using dirt. They don't seem to burrow much so I was thinking the leaf litter might be more suitable for them.

I'll post pics of one of my mangroves in another thread.....

They however prefer leaf litter so that what I went with.
I did have a layer of leaves on the dirt for awhile. But they never used the dirt other then to walk on it. So I figured may as well just put in a bunch of leaves its alot lighter then dirt.
