Just read your post in Field herpers. Did you hook up with the other guy? Can't wait to see what you found.

yah! I did hook up w/patrick and melissa from boise! Sunday is when we went to his spot a meteor crater2 hours east of boise. WE walked the rim of the crater at sundown and found the l of the "bullsnakes" on the road leading to the parking spot. And the "diamondback", and "blue racer"(i.e. idaho herp terms)on the rim of the crater out crawling on the mmagma r0cck outcroppings. The 2 boas i found by being in the right place at the right time. A Gazeteer topo mapped helped. The other gopher came on a different road leaving the crater... thanks for the interest, JD

I don't do much riding except for specific species.
Way too expensive these days so nighthiking seems for informative and easier on the wallet.
I'm guestemating that trip may have set you back about 400.00 in gas unless you were driving a 4 cylinder eggbeater.

4oo in gas and had 2 tires go bad so bought four Blowtenza's, 1.8t 4 cyl turbo AWD Audi. Plus hotel, food,$1100-1200 bucks TOTAL COSTS. THATS A FACT JACK!!!!!!!!!!BUT THE MOONLIGHT WAS AWESOME AND FINDING A BOA AT NIGHT MAKES IT WORTH IT.pEACE oUT JD

Heck, I once flew into LA to go look for E.e.klauberi and E.e.croceater and came home with one 1" klauberi (it was a drought year). And I was stoked! My wife had to show it to everyone and called it my million dollar salamander.
