Can Cypress Mulch hurt baby boas????

michaelburton Aug 24, 2005 09:22 PM

I am keeping my babies in 10 and 20 gallon tanks and I want to include a tub of cypress mulch. Is this a good idea or can it hurt the babies? I will post pictures of my 3 new 66% poss het Sharp Sunglow baby girls soon. They are awesome. Thanks. Michael Burton

Cypress is fine for all reptiles. You would still want to be careful of accidental ingestion during feeding. Make sure it is pure Cypress....I have seen alot that says Cypress , but also includes other ingredients. I use it contained in a seperate tub within the snakes enclosure....I put it right on the heat source so the humidity is constantly being added to the environment. ...Learned that from the master...Rich Ihle.

Just add more water and mix it up if it becomes dried out. Lasts a long time. I did have some that started producing small knats flying around. Just always get the good stuff and no problems. Hope this helps... Andy
