Make good use of hatched snake eggs this year:

Oxyrhopus Aug 25, 2005 11:18 AM

All you need is a 31 inch scarlet snake and you will be in business.

Seems a better scenting material then chicken egg yolk is to blender up some empty hatched snake eggs and freeze the slop and then use it to scent defrosted pinks.

In this case, I just handed this scarlet the empty shell and he snatched it out of my fingers.

Dan how often does that snake eat? It looks like it has a kinda skinny lower body. Looks like it will eat a dozen of those eggs.

It eats once or twice a week some yolk and some scented pinks. It was thin when I found it. Perhaps it was seeking food and that is why it was roaming out in the open?

Nice!

Hey Dan, thanks for the tips about pinky-training a scarlet. It was hard work, but I did what you said, as well as make up some other stuff as I went along, and I now have that scarlet eating unscented pinkies as regularly as my corn snake. Once again, nice picture! Never saw an actual photogaph of a scarlet eating a whole egg before. Just illustrations. The SK is also doing well.

The other is fine and is much more receptive to scented pinks.
