$250 is in the average range for a hatchling rhino. Check out bluetegu.com. More specifically http://www.bluetegu.com/cornuta.html

how much do they usually charge?

I got my hatchling from them last year for $249 plus $40 shipping, Total $289. We found some a little less expensive (like $20 less), but I really wanted to get ours directly from a breeder. They were wonderful through the whole transaction, and even send a little receipt with the hatch date, like a birth certificate, ha ha.

If you contact them, they will send you detailed info about how they care for their rhinos. We didn't follow it exactly and took advice from other people as well, but it is a good place to start. The one thing I would do is start with a 40long like they say. We took the advice of others and started with a 20long, which lasted all of about 3 months.

I got mine from Bob Ehrig for 170 plus 60 dollars shipping. He does not have a website but I will try to find his phone number for you.
Im very happy with my cornuta I recieved and I have called him a few times with questions and he has helped me every time.
