Just fed him.......more

heffner2212 Aug 25, 2005 03:48 PM

Ok wellI know most people wait a week and all....But I always feed the day after I get the snake then let them settle for a week.....Anyway I gave him a live small mouse and he took it great. I was wondering something...Is it ok to give blood live food all the time or should I give it a try to switch to pre-killed. I just hate having to kill the poor prey items.
thanks
Mike

ps: Do bloods ever go off feed and stuff like ball pythons?

Hey,
You might want to try purchasing a bag of prekill and frozen mice, that would keep you from having to kill them your self, and also, keep your blood from getting hurt in the process of making a kill. In the end it's a lot cheaper and you get a lot more for your money.

As far as bloods going off feed, they don't usually go off feed unless it is a male, and it is in its breeding phase or mode. Most females will continue to eat while breeding. More techniquely, most feedings should be held back until all breeding during the cooling period has been completed. Usually about 8 weeks.

your gonna want to switch it to FT so you can switch it to rats easier. If you don't want to kill the mouse/rat have a person at the petstore do it.
