Hi i've got a mite problem and the only place i think they could come from is the aspen chips i put in the cage. I was going to move a product by t-rex, but i wanted to know, what is the best way to get the mites off of my snakes? I'm pretty sure that the mite have laid eggs.

any help would be great thanks!!

Reptile mites are pretty species specific - normally you don't find snake mite in wood - you could be seeing wood mites - however wood mites don't spend a lot of time on snakes. Whichever the case:

First - throw out the substrate and anything you can throw out and replace with new, clean and disinfect the cage and any accessories - make sure you get any corners grooves or niches well - this is were they like to lay eggs. Replace everything but the water bowl back in cage and spray thouroughly with Provent a Mite. When dry you can replace water and snake.

Second treat your snake with Repptile Relief use as directed - this tends to dehydrate the snake so make sure when you put it back inthe cage it's got plenty of clean water.

Follow up treatments in two weeks or the next time you clean your cage.
