BBSPR for sale

At least 46,000 acres anyway. Apparently a Houston businessman is looking to purchase this land in a "remote, northwest section of the park". The state is selling it off to fund improvements in the rest of the park. Supposedly the price is $44 an acre.

The deal was done behind close doors (which is perfectly legal). The guy who wanted to buy the piece of the park owned the neighboring land and wanted to develop it.

The sale became public knowledge last week and several groups became up in arms about the way it was being handled. Last night at the meeting, those groups voiced their dissent and the TPWD turned down the sale, at least for now.

Yes, I just saw that (I run a day behind on the newspaper, which puts me incredibly behind in the news). I don't like the way you added "for now"....

of Brewster county with only a very few of other Trans-Pecos listings. Most of these are around the west and north perimeters of the park . These are land sales. The Terlingua Ranch was trying to prohibit the land offerings as was Presidio county of these types due to the sellers not totally disclosing the THOUSANDS of dollars to have elec run to property or even if it could be done. Also water would be cached or held ( totally brought in ) but the main concern would be how to have sewer/waist done. Of course I have evaporation lagoon system where I live and this would be the only way but at a cost because of ground. This could run someone with some of those lost properties well into several thousand to over $5,000 depending on land. I also know of one person that was serious looking at buying a peice of land outside of Redford ( west ) when he was shocked at having to put up $10,000 for power lines and farther back upwards to $40,000 depending how far off the beaten track was. This is with the land/property sales for so many acreas was at under $200 per. The cost of the projected power elec situation was going to be about 5 times more that what he was going to pay for the land ! LOL !
