I'm back and had a really good day........

Hoppy Jul 17, 2003 08:25 PM

Well I am back in town and had a really good day. I went over to see Ben and bring him some baby snakes J (It is his B-day by the way) But when I got home I found that my first batch of corn snakes were hatching out. Now I know this is a boa forum, but I still like my corns snakes too! I had some really neat Striped Snows and Striped Ghost Corns in the batch this time.
My Oldest daughter is still in Peru (I am thinking of leaving her there LOL) and still working on the education center for the village outside of Lima. Boy that area is much different then I pictured. I assumed that all of Peru is Lush and green, but the Pacific Coast is very arid like with brown (dirt) hills. Even though they are a costal area they get a very little amount of rain (In comparison to the Amazon area). The class system is stunningly different. You are either very well off or very poor, and I don’t mean living in a trailer Park with Satellite TV poor! This is a poor that is hard to imagine if you have never seen it. It is very hard to describe. But the people are friendly and I think it has been a good experience for my oldest daughter (she will be back by Sunday).
When She comes home we are taking a nice family Disney Vacation and going to try and relax some.
I don’t know about you guys but I am looking forward to The Expo this year. I’m going up a day early to see the last day of the HOT snake expo before the main show starts. I hope to see a bunch of you guys there.
But speaking of trips, The Wife and I have sent in our deposits for the Hiss -N- Things Costa Rica trip. If you have not seen it it looks like a pretty good deal. 7 days in an all inclusive Eco resort (all inclusive = free food and booze) flights there and back and car rental (Plus Jim with hiss -n- Things to guide us) all for under $1,100.00 per person. That is cheap and sounds like a good time, if any of you guys are interested (I could use another Boa Nut on the trip and yea they find Boas too!)
Well I guess I am just rambling on now with out a point so I will stop. It is good to be back home and when I get the pictures developed I will post some of them (I used only 35mm instead of any digitals).
Later

Hey Jim!
Awesome about the corns, do you have any pics of the
striped snows? (my current fav of my corns in the snow motley)

I sure hope you will tell us how that Eco-trip goes, I saw
the ads for it and it looked like so much fun.. just
convincing the b/f of that is hard lol (He says wouldn't
you rather go sip drinks on a white sand beach?) Tromping
in jungles looking for critters sounds like so much more fun.
Have a good one!

Hey,
I don't post much on this forum, but read almost everything, and I just decided to relate to your trip to Peru. I worked (and played, haha) there during the summer of 2001, and not only was it a striking contrast from anything I had seen anywhere else, but also of what I had imagined. From what I observed, there are basically two different types of Peru; the arid, desert-like coast west of the Andes which includes Lima and Nazca among others...and the rest of Peru (west of the Andes), where there are the jungles and the Peruvian Llanos and tourist attractions like Machu Picchu.

What city are you working on setting up the education center in? I most likely haven't been there, but I respect your work....and although I have no Hispanic blood in me (with my pastey skin, I might be the furthest thing from hispanic) I still enjoyed being there. And made a lot of friends.

And now that I'm starting to ramble, I'll cut myself off. But if anyone's interested, I have a great story about running into a llama.....literally colliding with a llama by accident and almost wetting my pants in the process.

Thanks a lot for bringing back some memories....I hope you had a good time,

Ian
