Just got back from vacation...good news bad news

astronut1885 Aug 26, 2005 11:52 AM

Hey guys. I just got back from a week on Cape Cod, and I've got some good news and some bad. First the good: My first hatchling hatched, her name is Victory. She's a normal het for blizzard. Next, I found at my cousin's house that one of the rescue geckos I had taken in and let him care for has turned out to be a super hypo baldy tangerine. I'll be bringing her back to my colony soon. Lastly, my sick blizzard is now healthy and fat again. Now to the bad- The other gecko I rescued is pencil thin and not getting better. I've tried everything, but I think she's too beat up. Also, Three of my geckos escaped from their cages while away. My Jungle female, Angel, was found, minus her tail. My normal female, Spaz, and my newly acquired baby het tremper albino, Fade, are still MIA. Apparently my sister left my door open, and the cats got into the room and opened my rack system. I'm hoping to find my two missing critters. I've still got 10 fertile eggs in the incubator, so I'm hoping for more babies, all het for tremper giant, within the next month.

Bring the feces to a vet and have a fecal exam done. If it has parasites, they'll give you meds for it. I gave my blizzard raw egg whites via a syringe for a few weeks while he was sick along with Nemex (medication). That's what worked for me.

Will you be selling the giant hatchlings?

astronut1885 Aug 26, 2005 02:57 PM

Once I have kept the ones I want for my breeding efforts, and I give one to my little cousin (I promised him one...), I will be selling the young. I can't guarantee they are giants, they may be only het for giant, even though it's a co-dom gene. Keep an eye on the classifieds to see what I have to offer.

i lost my male a couple weeks ago, escaped on his own out of his un-topped holding cell until he was deemed ok to live with my females. unfortunately i had to leave to go camping that day and wouldn't be back for another 5 days.i went camping, still missing the leo after i tore apart my house. i get back, and right when i walk into my room, the big guy poked his head out from underneath a bookshelf i had checked under a thousand times. he was a little thinner, but still in good health. needless to say i was thrilled. don't lose hope on finding the little guys, they can turn up anywhere.
