Bladder Stone

herperboy Aug 26, 2005 12:44 PM

Does anybody know if bladder stones are common in uromastyx? My egyptian has a large hard lump on the right side of his abdomen. I am hoping its just a big hard mass of nitrates or feces with some sand in it, but Im really not sure. Anybody have any ideas?

What makes you believe it is a bladder problem?
i would determine the duration of this mass, consider the overall health of the Uro, and determine if vet help is necessary.
I have never had a mass or lump in any of my egyptians.
I have had them swallow whole dry pinto beans and other large pieces of food items with no blockages.
If the lump does not move soon get hiim/her checked.

How old? Could it be an female?

I took him to the vet on Friday and we determined he had a Urolith, which is a type of bladder stone. My vet said that it didnt look life threatening at the moment, but that if he stopped eating or going to the restroom that i should bring him in and have it removed. I went into the reptile room sunday morning and he had passed away.

I am so sorry to hear that!! Sadly, sometimes these things happen. Having recently gone through a loss myself I can empathize. He will now enjoy playing in Uro heaven with Archie and our other friends who have passed away.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It must have been shocking to hear from the vet that you could take a watch and wait approach and then have him pass to quickly. He has crossed the rainbow bridge and is basking with all of our other uro friends now.
