hi..
i have a water bowl that is aabout 1 1/2 - 2 inches off the ground..
will my leo be able to drink out of it or should i get a lower dish ...

Do you mean the top edge is 1.5 inches off of the ground? or is the whole thing up 1.5 inches and then there is the height of the bowl itself? If the bowl is only 1.5 inches high, you should be okay. If the bowl is an inch high and then 1.5 up after that, get it on ground level.

How big is your gecko?

My smaller leos and my smaller geckos of other species can stand up on the rough edges of the deeper dishes with no problems. However, I do make sure that the dishes are never big enough that the whole critter could fall in and find it difficult to get out.

Hatchlings and babies - I'd be very cautious. I use a large, very shallow dish for the 1-2 month'ers. The water evaporates annoyingly fast, but the rim is short enough for them to reach, and if they like to put a front foot or two in the water while drinking, it is shallow enough that they can stand in it/fall into it and not get hurt. Reptiles are not very intelligent!
