(OT) I Met PAT!

Sunshine Aug 26, 2005 07:25 PM

Pat is a male South American Red Legged Tortoise with a laceration on his neck. After 3 weeks of my suggestion H2O irrigation and Neosporin treatment his wound has not healed to the point of satisfaction. This guy is super docile and pretty cool looking. He weighed 32 lbs and was wild caught at least 20 years ago. Pat is supposed to be larger than average and more orangish yellow than reddish orange according to his care-taker of the 20 who received him as an adult. This client was the local Tortoise Society President for many years many years ago. I can actually remember talking to him as a 8 or 10 year old child about some box turtles we had. Everytime he brings his cat to the clinic we always talk about tortoises/turtles and of course my snakes. He has stories of his trips to hear Fredrick Frye lecture and I am always elated to see him on our appointment schedule. Anyway, I thought it was out of the ordinary. After 20 years, not much does anything to excite me, but this did.

I think that's terrific! I would be excited, too.
