Got My New Hypo!!!!!

BrianD May 17, 2003 09:12 PM

Picked this little girl up at the airport today. My first boa, they kick @$$!! I got her from Jeff Risher at Hall of Fame Reptiles. I left for dinner and when I came home she was way more light than even these pictures show. I guess she got cold on the plane and needed time to warm up. Is 90 on the warm side to warm?

I don't know what kind does? Are you trying to say that this isn't a pure hypo? Like I said before this is my first boa so Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks BrianD

The animal in the photo I have posted is a Boa c. sabogae.
I just wanted to point out that the hypos are descending on these animals.

I am not fond of morphs but apart from that you have got a beautiful hypo!

Well, a couple of Boas come to mind with that coloration and saddle Pattern. The Fire Belly Boas That Denis was selling at last years Expo had very similar marking, I do not remember the exact local of them, but I also believe they were an insular boa of some sort. They had a striking resemblance to the Salmon Boas, Also many of the Honduran Boa imports come in with that coloration and saddle pattern (also thought to be a natrual Hypo) And of course there are our beloved mutts (I have 4 of them myself) Salmons, fine line Hypo, Salmontine, and an orange tail.
And last but not least there is your beautiful, but slightly scarred, Sobagtgoa (sp) Island Boa
thanks

you are gladly invited to visit me. Then I will show you that there is almost none resemblance from the so-called firebellies to the sabogae (I have both kinds of boas).

By the way, the firebellies came from Roatan, the largest of the Islas de Bahia off the coast of Honduras.

The scar on the animal comes from a very well-done treatment with antibiotics by a vet in Central America (he pumped half a gallon in the poor animal).

Such a treatment could also be done by a shoemaker, there is no need to study veterinary medicine for it.
