Wholesale BP sources and risk management

acute_serpents Aug 26, 2005 11:23 PM

Can you experts out there recommend some of the better wholesalers to consider for a purchase of 500 to 1000 female BP's?

What are fair prices to pay for lots of this size? (FEMALES)

Also, what is your assessment of the risk associated with imported CH neonates? What is a good strategy to manage this risk?

Thanks in advance.

wow thats alot of balls

i think you shoul get cb not ch, they will be much cheaper and easier in the long run, think of diseases and parasites, think of the stress your putting on the wild population

do you want ch to put "pure blood" back into the captive population? if thats why i see your reasoning but if your doing it for cost just get cb.

Umm stress on the wild population? Last I heard we havent even made a chip off the wild population. I wounder what CITES paper you all read this stuff from??? Also who are you buying from that CB are cheaper than CH??? CH are always cheaper. If you buy that many I dont see why you cant get them for $5 to $8 ea. But that was in March and April when the babies came in. Now expect to pay atleast $15 to $25 each. I think Xtreme has a bunch still, but they want $20 each in 100 lots. You are very late this year on this. Wait till next year and prebuy a lot from one of the US importers, that will save alot of the hassle.

If you buy your females this year, you will get perfect, acclimated babies that have a year's head start on next year's babies.

You may have to pay 15 or 20 each, but it will be worth it.

If you take good care of them, you shouldn't lose more than 5% in the grow up process.

You are gonna need some males to go along with all these females as a good male can only knock up 5 - 10 females a season. You will need a good supply of rodents also.

........you get just females you are going to pay for someone to actually get them and pop them all for you and pick out the females and males.......

they will also pick out any cute little things they will find in there too......

go to / call someone and ask about the purchase price of 1000 balls then pop them all yourself and pick out what you want ..

I presume you will be selling these females at a later date to make money on them.........so you can try to get them as untouched as possible to be able to pick out the pretty and wierd things..........

make some calls and see if you can be there when the shipment comes in...the person will want to pick through them and you may not get the 1000 without the dealer trying to screw you a little too.......

call Brian Barczyck and see what he says...he imports 30000 a year probably.........or find someone local so you can be there.......I would........
