whites housed with others??

virgy1 Aug 27, 2005 03:38 AM

hi,
i have been a whites tree frog(dumpy) hobbyist for about 6 years now. i used to have a group of 5 in a 75 gallon tank. they did awesome! and were my pride and joy. unfortunately i had to get rid of them due to moving...
since im not complete unless i have froggies, im starting my collection over again...
i have two whites(an adult and an adolescent), and two leopard frogs housed in the same tank. they do very well together and pay no attention to one another.
im planning on setting up a 55 gallon tank very soon. i plan on including more species with my whites and leopards, i cant find any info about species that can be housed together though...any ideas?
im thinking about more whites, more leopards, and some green tree frogs...?
thanks!

It has been my experience that whites will eat anything that moves and is smaller than its mouth.

"It it's smaller than me it's food, if it's bigger than me get away from it b/c I'm food."

Maybe one of those small green tree snakes that only eats insects, but I honestly think that when your whites grow big those little green tree frogs will be "yummy" looking. They are just the kind of frogs that don't do well in tanks with other stuff...

The leopards would do well with a mixture of other creatures. I've housed mine with newts, small water turtles, fish and small salamandars. If you are going for a communal kind of tank I wouldn't count on the whites being team players. Good luck!
