9in smooth black eyed mystery lizard HELP ID PLS!!

Reptile_Model Aug 27, 2005 08:42 AM

hi!

My son bought this lizard from somone who had it marked as an "Ememrald Swift from FL". I keep swifts and i know it's not an Emerald Swift and it's probably not from FL either... maybe it is, i dunno...

It's about 9in long, copper colored and an amazing climber/jumper. catches flying insects out of mid air while jumping from manzanita branch to branch in it's 30 gallon forrest floor with water dish terrarrium. buries it's self when it sleeps and basks under the lamb or in a sunbeam during the day.
an amazing little creature. i really want to know what it is and where it's from so i can give it proper care and maybe find it a mate. any help would be great
thanx

Hello,

Mayuba maculilabris from tanzania aka: speckle lipped skink. These guys are semi arboreal skinks from tanzania, feed primarily on insects. They are diurnal. hope this helps.
